How to Reserve a Boat

If you are not certified by the Cape Charles Rowing Club to take the shells out, you must row with a certified member. These members can provide training and instruction on the water, leading to your eventual certification, if desired.

Currently, there are 4 certified members:

  • Louise Lake Haymen
  • Mary Ann McDevitt
  • Laura Pare
  • Julie Parker

Below, you will find an online reservation form and the Club calendar. Dates and times when boats are already reserved are indicated on the calendar.

  1. Fill out the reservation form completely. Here, you can indicate whether you are interested in the the lightweight boat (Athena) or the heavyweight boat (Darth Vader). Darth Vader can accommodate rowers of all weights. Athena is only for lightweights, with an ideal weight of 135 lbs per rower and a maximum of 150 lbs. You can also indicate which of the certified members you would like to row with, if you have a preference. If not, just mark "Any". Be sure and indicate the date and time you would like row and both your phone and email information.
  2. Clicking on the "Send Request" button on the bottom of form launches an email to all of the certified members with your information.
  3. If they are available, they will confirm back to you by phone and/or email, and they will create a calendar entry that reserves the boat.

That's all there is to it!
